Hygiene

Six-month cleaning appointments are just as important as regular visits to the doctor. Maintaining oral health is a vital part of living a healthy life. It also reduces the chance of cardiovascular disease. At FHDC, we have two hygienists on staff who provide services ranging from basic six-month cleanings to advanced periodontal disease treatment.*

Restorations

Restorations include fillings, crowns,* and bridges.* We proudly offer Lava® porcelain crowns—stronger, longer-lasting crown restorations—and we also offer white fillings as well as the traditional silver. FHDC emphasizes gentle dentistry as a large part of our restoration techniques. We want our patients to be comfortable and our procedures to be as quick, painless, and effective as possible.

Endodontics*

No one wants to hear they need a root canal. Sometimes, however, a root canal is necessary to save a sick tooth, an infected tooth, or a severely decayed tooth. Fortunately, patient comfort during root canal treatment has improved in recent years. Dentists have begun using new techniques and antibiotics to treat the tooth prior to a root canal. FHDC tries to render these procedures as painless as possible, and Dr. Tellez treats a majority of his endodontic patients in one to two visits. Only occasionally do we refer a patient to a specialist outside our office.

Extractions

If a tooth is beyond restoring because of decay, trauma, or disease, extraction provides a healthy way to help the mouth heal. Other times, teeth do not have sufficient room in the mouth to emerge—such as with third molars* (wisdom teeth). These issues may lead to complications. Luckily, we can easily prevent these complications by extractions or other techniques—such as bridgework and dental implants. FHDC offers all of these treatment options, and we will work with each of our patients to provide the best option for his or her oral health.

Orthodontics*

Braces aren't just for children. Many adults, too, are discovering a beautiful and healthy new smile after orthodontic treatment. Straight teeth are easier to clean and floss and provide a healthier oral environment. In addition, studies have shown that patients who receive orthodontic treatment reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease. Orthodontics can help create a beautiful smile, treating problems like crowding, overbites, and uneven spacing. FHDC proudly offers the new Invisalign® orthodontic treatment as well as traditional wires and brackets. Schedule an orthodontic consultation today to find out how we can help improve your smile.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Even with all the advancements in dentistry designed for patient comfort, we know that some patients will still have problems relaxing at our office. For patients who have a fear of dental treatment or have difficulty getting numb, we offer nitrous oxide sedation. This sedation is administered through a special nosepiece and is safe, non-habit forming, and wears off after a few minutes of breathing oxygen.
